18 Quick Facts About 18 Minutes With Satyal and Silwal

A podcast that's making a bit of a noise recently, 18 Minutes With Satyal and Silwal might have been familiar to you through Youtube and Facebook but here are 18 quick facts about the podcast that you might not have quite known earlier.

    1. It basically started after a brief talk about life and childhood dreams- both Satyal and Silwal wanted to become commentators and RJS and didn’t want to give up on their dreams just yet.

    2.  Both of them believe that life is all about perspective building to create impact and they intend to bring out stories and experiences from different walks of life.

    3.   It took them just 4 days to launch the first episode.

    4.   The recordings are done from Satyal’s Mac (he wants to derive maximum value from the 110K he has invested) and not from a proper studio.

    5.  Satyal and Silwal wanted to launch the podcast when enthusiasm was high although they were well aware of the rawness of the first episode.

    6.  The logo, sound and other technical aspects would never have materialized if it wasn’t for Animesh Shrestha aka Animax who was kind enough to step in and take care of the ‘difficult stuff’.

     7.   It was Animesh Shrestha’s love for creating new things that got him hooked onto the idea.

    8.  The intention was to put up the first episode at 8.30PM but it took 3 hours to upload the video on Youtube.

    9.  The first episode went LIVE at 9.47P.M. on March 15th, 2016.

    10. Satyal and Silwal realistically expected a maximum of 150 views on YouTube- the video currently has 775+ views.

    11. The idea of naming the episodes after 'Tuesdays’ is a tribute to both Satyal and Silwals’ favorite professor Morrie Schwartz (from the popular book Tuesdays with Morrie).

    12. The number ‘18’ was selected for three primary reasons:
 1. 18 is hip, 2. 2 minutes for toilet break and 3. Satyal and Silwal believe they will forever be 18!

    13. The initial plan was to do it weekly but later it was decided that doing a fortnightly podcast would help bring out richer content.

    14.  Satyal always wanted people to call him by his surname and now he feels he is positioning himself just the way he likes it!

15.Both Satyal and Silwal are education enthusiasts working towards helping students smarten up beyond textbooks.

    16. Animesh Shrestha suggested the duo to mention the word ‘podcast’ somewhere in the name because he felt it was hip and would be something new in Nepal and hence, 18 Minutes With Satyal and Silwal- a podcast from the Himalayas!

    17. One of the guests for the first episode, Raj Rana Magar, had only arrived in Kathmandu a day before the recording- he immediately agreed to contribute after appreciating the intentions behind the idea upon his arrival.

    18. From a modest attempt at 150 views to an audacious target of 1000, help them turn this wish into the 18th fact of this blog!

18 minutes with Satyal and Silwal is a fortnightly podcast from the Himalayas. The deadly duo accompanied by a new guest every fortnight talk about perspectives from different walks of life. 18 minutes with Satyal and Silwal is definitely not a distraction but rather a supplement to your long and tiring week in the form of information and entertainment.
